The Journal

Mathématiques et Sciences humaines - Mathematics and Social Sciences is a quarterly journal, published by the Centre d'Analyse et mathématiques sociales of the École de Hautes Etudes en sciences sociales (EHESS). It is the only French journal to publish articles (in French and in English) that cover the full spectrum of mathematics and social sciences in a wide sense, meaning that topics range from mathematical tools and models in social science such as data analysis, stochastic process and dynamic systems, algebra and combinatorics, decision theory and logics to articles on linguistics, psychology, sociology and demography.

Often a historical perspective is adopted.

The policy of the journal is to contribute to relevant developments of the relationship beween the social sciences and mathematics, without forgetting the close tie that often exists between mathematical methods and the tools from computer science that are used to implement them.

The journal publishes theoretical and applied articles. These may establish new results, review areas of research, or have a purely educational purpose. The journal also contains a bibliographical section. There are 4 numbers annually, some of which are dedicated to special themes.
